Evolve Confirms Outdoor Learning Support for Preston Primary School

Evolve Document Solutions has announced a partnership with a Preston primary school to support outdoor learning by providing funding for Forest School staff clothing.

Evolve Document Solutions has provided financial support to Queen’s Drive Primary School to enable the purchase of outdoor clothing for staff delivering Forest School sessions.

The funding has been used to purchase waterproof trousers, fleece jackets, thermal socks, gloves, and woollen hats for staff who work outdoors with pupils as part of the school’s Forest School provision.

Queen’s Drive Primary School is based in Fulwood, Preston, and runs Forest School sessions as part of its wider curriculum, with activities taking place outdoors throughout the year in a range of weather conditions.

Daniel Maddox, Managing Director of Evolve Document Solutions, said: “We wanted to do something that would actually be useful day to day. When we heard the staff were outdoors in all conditions, helping with the clothing felt like a simple way to support what the school is doing.”

Forest School sessions at the school involve structured outdoor activities designed to complement classroom learning and are delivered by trained members of staff.

A Forest School is a structured form of outdoor learning that began in Scandinavia and takes place regularly in natural settings such as woodland. Sessions are long-term, and child-led, with clear boundaries and safety routines that allow pupils to choose their own activities, including exploring, building and creative play.

A defining feature is the supervised use of real tools and controlled fire, helping children learn how to assess risk, solve problems and work independently over time.

Michael Aspinall, Deputy Head Teacher at Queen’s Drive Primary School, said: “Being properly equipped makes a big difference when you’re outside in all weathers. This support means staff can stay comfortable and concentrate on running the sessions for the children.”

Evolve Document Solutions has confirmed that the partnership forms part of its wider engagement with organisations in the local area, with the new outdoor clothing now in use during Forest School sessions at the school.
